Give Back for Earth Day

Celebrate with these volunteer opportunities from Austin Parks Foundation.

Austin Parks Foundation was founded in 1992 to enhance the city's public parks, trails, and greenery through volunteerism and fundraising. APF works to maintain over 300 of Austin's parks and trails and has given over $3 million to service the community. 

In observation of our planet and Austin's green spaces, APF is hosting events around the city leading up to Earth Day on April 22. 


Volunteer Events 

Open Work Day at Wooldridge Square Park  Care for the trees at one of three historic downtown squares. Weeding and mulching Wooldridge's heritage trees will help keep them healthy and vibrant. APF encourages you to dress appropriately for the weather. Tools, gloves, snacks, and water will be provided. Meet at Wooldridge Square Park by the giant mulch pile on the West side of the park. Register here


April 20 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Wooldridge Square Park  900 Guadalupe Street


Earth Day at David White Trees are vital for the overall health of parks and Parks and Recreation's Urban Forestry Division needs help to mulch their newly planted trees at Davis White. After mulching, there will be a seedball making session and a nature hike on Walnut Creek Trial to end the day. Tools, gloves, music, KIND bars, and water will be provided. Meet near the playground east of Crystalbrook by the official APF truck. 


April 20 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Davis White Northeast District Park 6705 Crystalbrook Dr. 


Paint Bartholomew Park Learning Trail  Bartholomew Park offers picnic spots, swimming, a splash pad, disc gold, playground, basketball, volleyball, tennis, baseball/softball, trails, and other field sports. APF needs help laying down a fresh coat of paint on their Learning Trail. Tools, gloves, KIND bars, and water will be provided. Meet at the splashpad parking lot at the corner of Greenbrook and Berkman. 


April 27 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.  Bartholomew District Park 5201 Berkman Dr. 


Givebacks

Austin Parks Foundation is joining forces with local businesses on Earth Day, April 22, to host givebacks that will fund community efforts and parks. All you have to do is visit these locations and drop a donation. 


Giveback Happy Hour at Friends and Allies Brewing  $1 from every pint sold will be donated to APF.  Friends and Allies Brewing Taproom 979 Springdale Rd. Ste. 124


Black Swan Yoga Donations $5 donations will be accepted, just ask for the APF DipJar.  1213 W. 5th Street; 4534 Westgate Blvd; 1417 W. Anderson Ln. 


Earth Day Charity Ride with SoulCycle  SoulCycle's Charity Ride Program is a 45-minute class where each bike is sold to fundraise for charity. Bikes are $30 and registration is available here 401 Congress Ave.
